Hey DMHS Family! Is it just us, or does this week feel like it’s moving in slow motion? Maybe it’s because we’re so distracted by the sheer lack of spirit in the hallways. We’re talking tumbleweeds of depression rolling through these brand new hallways, guys. Seriously, someone check if the Highlander spirit got abducted by aliens. We’re offering a reward: one slightly used copy of last year’s pep rally ticket (some doodling may apply).
Okay, okay, we’re being dramatic but it’s kind of our thing, we’re the newspaper club. But seriously, where’s the spirit week love? We’re not seeing the creativity, the daring fashion choices, the sheer commitment to ridiculousness that we know you Highlanders possess!
We did spot a few brave souls rocking the spirit week themes. Monday’s Meme Day brought out a surprising number of BBQ Dads and Soccer Moms. Classic. A timeless choice. Though, we have to ask… why were so many seniors sporting the suburban look? Coincidence? Or are they secretly holding their own spirit week, the infamous soccer mom hat with their sports wear and discussions about lawn care? We’re investigating. Don’t worry, we’ve got our best reporters (aka some Senior from first period) on the case.
And speaking of suspicious activity, have you seen the teachers this week? Mr. Markgren in overalls and a purple tie? Ms. French looking like a rainbow threw up on her (in the best way possible, of course)? They’re definitely up to something. We’re starting to think the teachers have a secret spirit week competition going on, and they’re not letting students in on the fun. We demand answers!
But fear not, Highlanders! It’s not too late to redeem yourselves. There are still days left to unleash your inner spirit animal. Dig deep, find those Hawaiian shirts, dust off those superhero capes, and show us what you’ve got! We’ll be here, cameras ready, to document the glorious and possibly questionable fashion choices. Let’s make this a spirit week to remember or at least one we can laugh about later.
Stay tuned for more updates, and remember: Go Highlanders! (or, you know, at least walk Highlanders. Baby steps).
