As spring, as though seeming not around the corner, actually is, spring sports are calling. Doherty has three seasons for sports, fall, winter, and spring! And now, the winter season is coming to a close while spring season is upon us! So, maybe you are interested in possibly trying out for a sport? Well, here is what you need to know!
What sports?
Like many other schools, Doherty offers softball, boys volleyball, baseball, tennis, outdoor track and field. However, city-wide spring sports include girls golf, rugby, crew, and lacrosse. Whether you are a long time player or more of a beginner, at Doherty you can always try something new. Doherty certainly has many sports to offer.
When?
The spring tryouts are the third Monday of March! So, March 17, 2025. Save the date!
Needed?
Trying out requires you to be there but you also have to turn in the proper paper work. For all sports, no matter what you are trying out for, they require an updated physical and Athletics Participation Form completed. Based on the situation you may have to complete the Head Injury Report, Emergency Contact Form, and the MIAA Chemical Health Rule. You will need the nurse to sign off on the paperwork to make sure you are good to go! Make sure when you show up to practice, you have turned in the paperwork or else you cannot tryout.
Now what?
Well, until the tryout day(s) come around, practice and get better! Your odds are sure to go up when you are actively trying! If it so happens that when you try out you are unsuccessful, oh well, try again text year! Or, take another sport from the ones listed and try another! Good luck with whatever you decide!
