Spring break is finally here in just two days, the long awaited beginning of the end to the school year. It’s safe to say I can speak for everyone when we are ecstatic that we get a break after the long quarter we just had. Luckily the weather next week is forecasted to be comfortable; mainly around 60 degrees with the highest of the week being 75° on Saturday the 19th and partly cloudy all week. The drastic change between last weekend’s unforeseen weather and this weekend’s are a relief, because nobody wants to stay inside due to a snow storm. So here are 5 ideas you can do this spring break to have a blast.
- Go Big! Go Six Flags!
If you’re seeking an adrenaline-packed adventure during your spring break, consider a day trip to Six Flags New England The park boasts over 100 rides, including a variety of roller coasters, and family rides. While the water park will not be open iconic rides such as: Superman The Ride and the New England SkyScreamer, one of the tallest swing rides in the world, will be. In 2025, the park is set to unveil the Quantum Accelerator, a steampunk-themed roller coaster featuring hover-bike vehicles and a dual-launch system. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or looking for family-friendly entertainment, Six Flags New England offers an exhilarating experience to make your spring break memorable.
2. Explore the Outdoors
For those who love the outdoors, Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center & Wildlife Sanctuary offers over 400 acres of trails through woods, fields, and marshes. It’s a great place to hike and observe wildlife. Another option is the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston, where you can explore beautiful gardens and greenhouses. If you’re into sports, Central Rock Gym provides indoor rock climbing suitable for all skill levels. For a more relaxed day, consider visiting Elm Park, one of the oldest public parks in the U.S., perfect for a picnic or a refreshing walk.
3. Support local art
Art enthusiasts should visit the Worcester Art Museum, which houses over 38,000 works of art, including Roman mosaics and Japanese prints . The museum also features a significant collection of arms and armor, making it a unique experience. For a hands-on art experience, the Worcester Center for Crafts offers classes in pottery and other crafts. If you’re in the mood for some entertainment, check out The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts, which hosts a variety of shows and performances next spring break.
4. The City is Calling
If you’re looking to spend a day in Boston during your spring break, there’s a lot to explore! From Worcester, it’s about an hour’s drive to the city, making it a perfect day trip. One of the highlights of spring in Boston is catching a Red Sox game at the historic Fenway Park. For a unique experience, consider taking a ride on the Swan Boats in the Public Garden, a tradition that dates back to 1877.
Newbury Street offers a mix of high-end boutiques and unique local shops. And if you’re a fan of marine life, the New England Aquarium is home to a variety of sea creatures and offers interactive exhibits that are both fun and educational. If you’re visiting during the Boston Marathon, which typically takes place on April21st this year, the city will be buzzing with energy, and there will be plenty of events and festivities to enjoy.
5. Spring Cleaning Season
And finally—hear me out—spring cleaning. I know it doesn’t sound fun at first, but it actually feels amazing to reset your space. Clean out your closet, rearrange your room, maybe even donate stuff you don’t use anymore to local thrift stores or organizations like Andy’s Attic. It’s super satisfying and makes coming back to school feel a little more put-together. Plus, you can blast music while doing it, which makes for some fun me-time. Plus do your part in keeping our city clean. Invite some friends and you can turn it into a hang-out session while helping out our community.
There is so much more to do here in this city or even in the comfort of your own home. Whatever you do make sure to enjoy it!
