Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! From May 5th to May 9th this year, we recognize and commend our teachers for their very hard work, support, and dedication.
Celebrated primarily in the United States, Teachers’ Appreciation Day was advocated for in 1953 by Eleanor Roosevelt and was first celebrated on March 7 as a day to honor teachers. In 1980, the National Education Association (NEA) expanded “Teacher Day” into a week-long celebration, which officially created “Teacher Appreciation Week”. Ever since then, schools, students, and communities continue to annually celebrate their teachers during the first full week of May. We can show our gratitude for our educators who play a huge role in shaping our minds and futures in many different ways, big and small.
Do you want to get something for your teacher(s) but you can’t think of anything? Well, here’s a short but thoughtful list of how you can show your appreciation to your teachers on a bigger level.
