It’s sad but true, fall is almost over. Seeming like it just started, the transition from fall sports to winter sports is upon us. Here is what you need to be prepared now rather than later.
Take a Look!
For Doherty sports we have cheerleading, basketball, and indoor track & field. City-wide sports include hockey, wrestling, swimming, and skiing.
Forms to Complete!
For any sport you try out for coaches will strictly tell you, you need the paperwork to tryout. What cannot be stressed enough is your updated physical, and the Athletics Participation Form/Emergency Contact Form to be completed. Additional paperwork or information is the Head Injury Report, Emergency Contact Form, and the MIAA Chemical Health rule. The nurse has to sign you off so plan your time wisely! Don’t be stressed at the last minute.
When is it?
Speaking of not being stressed, tryouts begin the first Monday after Thanksgiving break. A little further this year but it is December 1st. Mark the date! Coming up a little over a month, check out updates on the announcements/the Doherty Athletics Hub google classroom. The Athletics Hub has Doherty sports google classrooms and paperwork. If you are trying out for the city-wide sports catch tables in the cafeteria or flyers as well. All this information can be found under Athletics at worcesterpublicschools.org.
What to do?
Although it may not seem like it, there is a great deal of time till tryouts for the winter sports. Especially if you’re interested but have never played before, try it! You have this time, so use it wisely. And if by chance you don’t make it, try out again next year or even try something different. And if you do make the team, well have a fabulous season.
