Hello Doherty students and staff! Doherty had an adventure of a night showing parents and eighth-grade students around our school and telling them all about the Doherty experience during our Open House night on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025.
Just in case you missed it, here is a deep dive into what the night included.
First off, the jazz ensemble played from 6:10-6:30 on the second floor to welcome parents in and delight them with the sound of music. Starting at 6:30 to around 7:00, students and staff spoke in the auditorium. Hudson Nguyen started us off with his piano skills, after followed by Rachel Suyer with our introduction. Shortly after the Madrigals sang with their soloists wowing the audience.
A brief welcome was conducted by Mr. John Staley, our principal, and he played A Day in the Life of Our Students: Today & Tomorrow, which had photos of students in clubs, sports, academics, and so on. Further enhancing the average student experience, more of the student council came up to the podium to speak. Paola Renxa dived in on the academic experience, Guilherme Almeida spoke on behalf of the Career Technical Education program, Mackenzie O’Brien spoke about clubs and activities, and Bernardo Pena Dos Santos shared his take on Athletics. Wrapping up we had Mr. Ed Capstick, assistant principal, speak about athletics and family/caregiver involvement.
Thanking all of our speakers, Rachel Suyer gave the closing remarks and advised parents to meet in the cafeteria for conversations, in the hallway for tours of the whole building, or in the basement to learn about our offered programs.
A very good night overall as student council representatives led tours around the building till eight o’clock. Many parents and students took a tour… and some of the complimentary cookies :).
This night showed a little Doherty magic of who we are and what we entail. We’re always looking forward to our new students. See you soon, many more good things to come.
