A performer/dancer for the 400 member field cast in Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show was detained on the field.
The NFL confirmed that the individual was indeed a member of the performance field cast and in an emailed statement by Brian McCarthy, an NFL spokesperson via AP News, said that “The individual will (be) banned for life from all NFL stadiums and events.” The spokesperson continued on by explaining that “the individual hid the item on his person and unveiled it late in the show… no one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent.”

What Exactly Happened?
The unidentified individual climbed up on a car that was acting as a prop for Lamar’s performance and raised the flag up to show the crowd. The flag read “Gaza” and “Sudan” written on it. The entertainment company that produced the performance, Roc Nation, said the individual’s act “was neither planned nor part of the production and was never in any rehearsal.”
After the incident occurred around the end of the rapper’s 12 minute performance during “TV Off”, the performance continued on without any other sudden interruptions. Because of this individual’s decision, he could be facing legal charges against him, but currently does not have any.
The individuals protest did not appear on Fox’s television broadcast of the halftime show.
