Cue the confetti and crank up the (slightly subpar) beats — Doherty Memorial High School’s Class of 2025 just made prom history!
On a warm spring evening, Highlanders traded in their backpacks for bowties and ball gowns as they flooded into the dazzling DCU Center ballroom for the most anticipated event of the year: the 2025 Junior-Senior Prom. Greeted with smiles and warm wishes from teachers and staff, the energy was contagious from the very start.
The ballroom was breathtaking — draped in shimmering lights, elegant table settings, and a photo-worthy backdrop that had students snapping pics with friends, dates, and even their favorite teachers. As each pair strutted through the doors in their finest, cheers rang out as classmates greeted one another like celebrities on a red carpet. From sleek suits to show-stopping gowns, it was clear: the Highlanders did not come to play.
Some standout fashion icons of the night included Trinnity Ly, Anthony Nguyen, Matthew Szydlik, Nazrin Ismail, Sage Comeaux, Sydney Karimi, and Davi Tavares, who turned heads and stole the spotlight with their stunning ensembles.
With the DJ spinning upbeat tunes (though students weren’t afraid to rate the music as “mid”), the ballroom quickly turned into a packed dance floor. Students danced like no one was watching — though everyone definitely was. And while the dance floor was sizzling, so was the temperature. Between all the excitement and the heat, handheld fans became the hottest accessory of the night — literally.
For the first time in school history, Doherty hosted a Prom Court, and the stakes were sky-high. When the moment finally arrived, a roar erupted as Josh Romeo was crowned Prom King, and the radiant Jeslyanie Ingles was crowned Prom Queen, cementing their royal status in Highlander history.
Though there was little in the way of mosh pits or dance circles this year, the night had no shortage of memories. As the clock ticked closer to the end, many students made early exits, heading off to their own after-parties around the city. But for those who stayed, Prom 2025 had one final surprise twist — the fire alarms were pulled just as the night was winding down. Yep, you read that right. As if the night couldn’t get any more unforgettable, students were ushered out in their formalwear under flashing lights. A dramatic exit, to say the least!
Despite the heat, the alarms, and a DJ that maybe could’ve taken a few more song requests, Prom 2025 was nothing short of magical. For the juniors and seniors of Doherty Memorial, it wasn’t just a dance — it was a night filled with laughter, fashion, friendship, and Highlander pride.
Here’s to the memories we made, the fans we waved, and the alarms we’ll never forget.
Long live the Class of 2025!
