As 2024 comes to an end and the new year is here many people will feel a mix of emotions. When entering a new year there are new beginnings. The start of the new year is a time to get into healthy habits and to prioritize self care. Send a farewell to the old and welcome the new with ways to make the most out of these next three hundred sixty-five days.
Daily Routine
Setting a routine is one healthy habit that will leave you feeling accomplished and make your day worthwhile. This is an adaptive routine to you that can include how you get ready for your day at school or work, practice, doing homework, and going to bed. Your daily routine can look different on the weekend but what matters is if it’s effective. When setting up your new routine or continuing the one you already had, it is important to remember not to have so many demanding goals but ideas on how your day can be amazing. Don’t stretch yourself out too far that you are exhausted every night, take every minute at a time!
Deep Clean Day(s)
From cleaning your room by organizing drawers, dressers, donating items, doing wash, and vacuuming and/or sweeping and mopping, there will be a breath of fresh air with a clean environment. The new year is a great time to take the reins of your life and declutter your surroundings. So while the first weeks of the year are upon you, manage your time efficiently. Deep clean doesn’t mean one day and you’re done, it can span a few days of cleaning or every once in a while you tidy up to feel your best. And hey, making your bed can be the first adventure you embark on each day!
Time For Yourself #1 (Journaling)
A few moments out of your day for yourself can have a positive impact on oneself. You don’t need anything fancy to write with or on, just a notebook and a pen. Do some self-reflecting to have memories you can look back on, or plan out your day to help motivate you. This is a way to decompress your head from all its swirling thoughts and channel those thoughts into something productive.
Trying Something New
Whether this is trying to bake, a new sport, watching a show, or reading a book, it is good to get out of your comfort zone and experiment with different ideas or activities. Opening your mind to new possibilities can lead you to a happier lifestyle. There are millions of ways one person’s life can go and each action impacts how your life turns out. By acting on positive and seemingly unusual hobbies, you might find something that you actually love and maybe can’t picture living without. So in 2025 think of all your options, and it might not come easy, but soon you’ll find an activity made for you!
Time For Yourself #2
Taking time for yourself is an important part of the new year. The word “time” can refer to a weekday, hour, or a few minutes of self reflection and care. This can count as exercising, doing skincare, nails, taking a nap, playing video games, riding your bike, eating a delicious desert, or anything that is safe and benefiting you. The world can be demanding and quick paced so any moment in your day to relax and breathe is good for the soul. Taking time for yourself can look different for everyone based on how tired you are, what you’re interested in, or how much time you have in your day.
Getting Fresh Air
The outside is filled with beautiful wildlife and stunning sunsets. What’s the point in that existing if you are not witnessing the great phenomenon of nature? In 2025 try to spend more time outside in any shape or form, vitamin D is waiting for you!

Being Productive
There are days where no one wants to do a single thing, and that is perfectly fine! But it is good to know what you could be doing instead of in bed, rotting all day. There will be days where all one wants and needs to do is rest, but on other days, productiveness is key. Productiveness can be spent on a day out or in, either option has a variety of possibilities. Shopping or running errands is a fantastic idea, the same as doing homework or working out. Productiveness is using time wisely and accomplishing tasks. These tasks don’t have to be extremely difficult. Doing the dishes while listening to music, then cooking a nice dinner, is beneficial too. “Productive” can mean you do a lot that day or you just get the necessities done. It’s good to realize you are doing your best and you should be proud of yourself.
Coming to an end, there are so many ways to build the best year for you. With a few helpful suggestions you can take pieces of this article and apply it to your everyday life. Remember it’s not about quick results on any goal you set, these are long term changes to help live the most fulfilled life possible! 2024 may have been a great, relatively good, or bad year for you. Pushing aside the past, 2025 can be a wonderful year if you let it be.
