Nazzal Studio at Barcelona Fashion Week
080 Barcelona Fashion Week
The 37th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion Week brought together emerging and established designers, but Nazzal Studio stood out for its deep cultural storytelling. Founded in Jordan in 2023, the studio treats garments as both artistic mediums and cultural documents, collaborating with refugee and local women artisans to preserve traditional craft. Their collection Al‑Najah | النجاة (“survival”) explored Bedouin rituals, symbols, and materials—from natural pigments to tatreez embroidery—transforming ancestral memory into contemporary silhouettes. Each piece functioned as both clothing and narrative, rejecting mass production in favor of ethical, community‑based craftsmanship. The rest of the designer collections lineup includes Ugo Boulard’s With Kind Regards, Guillermo Justicia’s Viscerum, Coconutscankill’s Halfway Done, DOBLAS’s Collapse, Adolfo Domínguez’s El Número, AAA STUDIO’s Señora, suélteme el brazo!!!, and Dominnico’s Soft Armour.
Nazzal Studio

Nazzal Studio delivered one of the most powerful and emotionally grounded moments of 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. Drawing from Bedouin life, a group of nomadic Arab tribes who historically inhabit the desert regions of the Middle East and North Africa, specifically in Bilad al‑Sham or modern-day Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and Israel, along with parts of southern Turkey, designers Sylwia Nazzal and Jad Maq created a collection that balanced weight and fluidity–rigid leather hoods framing the face contrasted with draped, collapsing trousers that moved like liquid.
The label collaborates with refugee and local women artisans in Jordan, sustaining traditional craft techniques while creating fair income and creative opportunities. Each piece is made through ethical, community-based production that rejects mass manufacturing entirely. Veils, wraps, and elongated panels shaped how the body was revealed or concealed, turning each look into a study of protection, identity, and presence. Nothing felt exaggerated and instead, the collection stood firmly in its cultural and historical roots in bringing up the Bedouin memory and Palestinian heritage to the runway.
A rigid, armour‑like leather hood drapes over the model’s head and shoulders, contrasting with the loose white shirt and soft beige trousers to create a grounded, protective silhouette.
A sheer black outfit is paired with a translucent veil marked with script, controlling visibility and turning the look into a quiet study of covering and revealing.
A fitted black top meets asymmetrically draped trousers that twist around the waist, giving the look a fluid, modern shape that shifts with movement.
Layers of translucent amber and brown fabric gather and hang with loose threads, creating a raw, textured silhouette that feels both fragile and resilient.
An oversized dark hooded ensemble builds volume around the body while the model carries a light patterned textile, adding contrast and emphasizing the tension between heaviness and delicacy.
A structured black hooded jacket with hanging threads sits above a long, translucent beige skirt, blending weight and softness into a silhouette that moves like shifting desert fabric.
After reading, what was your favorite outfit from the collection? Did any of the silhouettes, materials, or cultural elements stand out to you? Do you think fashion can tell stories as powerfully as words can? Nazzal Studio–along with the models who brought each look to life–once again proves how clothing can function as both art and cultural memory, carrying Bedouin heritage and Palestinian identity onto an international runway. Their work at 080 Barcelona Fashion Week shows how survival, craft, and storytelling can be woven directly into fabric, movement, and presence. As the fashion world continues to evolve, Nazzal Studio reminds us that the most impactful designs are the ones rooted in history, community, and meaning. Tune in for more runway looks.
