Born and raised in Albania and now a proud Highlander, Samuela blends creativity, passion, and dedication into every batch she makes. “Pretty Mixed-Up Creations first started as a class project in my marketing course for a Makers Market assignment. At first, it was just a fake cookie business we had to create for school, but it quickly became something more meaningful to me. I’ve always enjoyed baking cookies for my family and sharing them with friends. I would often get compliments and people encouraging me to sell them, even though I never actually did. When the Makers Market project came up, I saw it as a great opportunity to finally share something I love with a wider audience. The name “Pretty Mixed-Up Creations” came from the idea of mixing different ingredients, ideas, and creativity into something unique and homemade. It reflects how each batch of cookies has its own special “mixed-up” style. Through the Makers Market, I was able to introduce my cookie business to new people, and they were really well received. I decided to continue selling my cookies beyond the project. I now promote my cookie business mainly through word of mouth, friends, social media, and people who try my cookies and recommend them to others.” — (’28) Highlander Samuela Ametaj.

“Pretty Mixed-Up Creations is a homemade cookie business that sells fresh, from-scratch cookies. I offer flavors like s’mores, cookies and cream, confetti, brookies, and Nutella, and the flavors will constantly change to introduce new and different options over time. What makes my business unique is the focus on freshness and quality. Since everything is made from scratch, the cookies have a rich, homemade taste that stands out from store bought options. The rotating flavors also keep things exciting and give customers something new to try each time. For pricing, I sell 1 cookie for $3, or 3 cookies for $7. “Starting Pretty Mixed-Up Creations came with a few challenges, especially in the beginning when it was just a project. At first, I wasn’t sure how to turn the idea into something real, like setting prices, organizing orders, or making everything feel professional. My marketing teacher, Ms. Roche, really helped me figure everything out step by step. She guided me through the process and made the business side a lot easier to understand. With her support, what started as a simple class project slowly turned into an actual business I felt confident starting. My advice to other Highlanders is to not be afraid to start small and ask for help when you need it.
