AI is slowly taking over students minds one by one. AI in schools has been a very controversial topic subject throughout the school body. Is it helping, hurting, or something more? What are we losing? I’ve been thinking recently about AI. What is it doing to us?
For starters how it is being used. Most students that use AI are using it to finish assignments. A shortcut you could say. Listen, I understand it. It’s nice to just get done with assignments. Leaves time for everything we want to do. But what if I tell you it runs deeper that you thought? AI is affecting your brain more than you can comprehend. AI engines such as ChatGPT are widely being used in school by students and teachers. Studies have shown that AI is actually creating a lack of creativity. By using AI your mind starts to lose the function of human-like ideas changing the way we write, speak, and formation of idea concepts. I think that using AI isn’t just completing assignments, but it’s also changing the way we think. AI takeover just reached a new level.
AI is here and most likely will stay in this world and only get better and as a human race we need to adapt to use it properly. I am no expert considering I’m writing for a school paper, not The Wall Street Journal, but properly using AI will benefit us in the long run. If we all are taught how to properly use AI in a changing world we can learn how to stop the physiological takeover.
Using AI to write your essay is only causing problems for students. Teachers give assignments for our benefit, to teach us how to do certain things. However, if we can’t use AI, teachers shouldn’t be allowed to use it either. Generating prompts for students and then using AI as students to write or papers sounds redundant don’t you think? Creativity is essential for the human mind and for the betterment of the human race.
In conclusion, we should learn how to use AI properly. Writing your essay using AI isn’t going to get you far in life. You won’t learn anything out of it. As a nation and a people, let’s either learn to use it or ditch AI all together. We are better than this. Furthermore let’s be creative, have some originality, and learn how to rework our brains again. It is no more a takeover, it’s a take back.
