On the 19th of February 2026, former Prince, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested by the Tempame Valley police for suspicion of misconduct while in public office. He spent his 66th birthday in jail and was released 11 hours later on that same day. Andrew has not been officially indicted. This marks the first time in nearly four centuries since a senior British royal has been placed under arrest.

The arrest comes in the wake of the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, in which Mountbatten-Windsor appeared numerous times in both photographs and documents. These photos include some showing Andrew and Epstein at parties and a few unsettling images of the former prince on his knees over a victim.
The allegations the former prince is facing revolve around the possibility of Andrew, while acting as the United Kingdom’s special representative for international trade and investment, sharing confidential trade documents and reports with Jeffrey Epstein in 2010 while in public office.
King Charles III, Mountbatten-Windsor’s brother, released a statement following the arrest saying, “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation…Let me state clearly: the law must take its course,” he added. “As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
The relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is a long one, dating back to the 1990s when Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted sex offender and co-conspirator, introduced the two. Since the initial introduction the two powerful men remained close friends.
Then in 2017, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, victim of Jeffrey Epstein, filed a civil lawsuit against both Epstein and Mountbatten-Windsor for trafficking, alleging Mountbatten-Windsor forced her to have sex at the age of 17. This resulted in the late Queen Elizabeth II to strip Mountbatten-Windsor of his military affiliations and royal patronages on January 13th 2022. The lawsuit was settled that same year in 2022. The family of the late Virginia Giuffre released the statement after Andrew’s arrest saying on CBS News, “At last, today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty.”
Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest marks some of the first legal action that has been taken against possible co-conspirators in the Jeffery Epstein case. Mountbatten-Windsor is facing possible life in prison if officially charged and convicted.
