Do you play volleyball? Do you want to? Well, if you are a girl who is interested, the upcoming season starts this year in the fall.
A volleyball meeting was held on May 29th for anybody who was interested in trying out. Girls got a little snippet of what the tryout process would be like. If you weren’t there and want to tryout or are just curious, this is what was mentioned.
The varsity coach is Ms. Coonan and the junior varsity coach is Ms. Wroblewski. The days to tryout are the first three days of school. So, when school starts on Monday, the tryout days will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and the first day of practice Thursday. Ms. Coonan mentions how the tryouts are combined for JV and varsity and it is a quick process because normally there would be a game the following week.
For tryouts you need to have an updated physical signed by the nurse, chemical health form completed, permission slip signed by you and your parent/guardian, and your emergency contact form completed as well. If you have none or only one or two sheets of this paperwork filled out you cannot play. It is important for everyone to complete this paperwork so there is no disappointment on tryout day when you cannot tryout because you forgot or didn’t have it. All of this paperwork is in the girls volleyball Google Classroom. The code is fmoq4db.
Also, when thinking of tryouts you should be prepared. So, wear spandex, a t-shirt, volleyball sneakers, and have water with you. Maybe even a snack if you think you’ll get hungry! Don’t forget to bring an elastic to tie up your hair. You’re gonna get sweaty and it is professional having your hair tied back and not let down. Try to have a back up hair tie as well just in case it breaks or you lose it!
To try out for volleyball you don’t have to have previous experience on a team, but come prepared. Practice in the summer and learn the game. Ms. Coonan will post workouts to do in the summer to get ready for the season. Maybe grab a friend and pepper with them! Don’t come to tryouts without having touched a volleyball all summer! There is time, use it. Finally, know your position. Ms. Coonan recommends having a position to tryout for because that is how she will make her decisions.
Now you know everything about the upcoming 2025 girls volleyball season. Use this knowledge to your advantage. See you there.
