Who went to the orientation on August 20th? Freshmen! Freshmen! And who is excited for the next school year? Freshmen! Freshmen!
We welcomed the class of 2029 on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 for their freshman orientation. Being a first year and/or a new student in high school comes along with numerous challenges and fears. That’s why we welcomed in and prepared these students for the new upcoming year. And who are we, exactly? The student council and the hospitable teachers.
The day started out with freshmen going into the auditorium, receiving information, as well as folders with a group letter, A through E. Then, freshmen were called group to group to the cafeteria. Student council members were in the entrance of the cafeteria, guiding their peers (based on their group letter – A to E, as mentioned before) to their tables in which all of the freshmen were organized into their group.
Long story short, the 8 to 12 orientation day consisted of rotations throughout tours, ice breaker activities in the gym, and with pre-party goal setting snacks!
The orientation concluded with a well-deserved thanks to the students from the teachers for a successful day. With Mrs. Waters leading the freshman through a congratulatory picture for the 2025-2026 school year. The students held up a Doherty banner, recording a video of them saying “Go Highlanders!” Even though the students weren’t level ten loud, we know they will find the spirit and passion during this school year and many pep rallies to come.
So overall we want to give a big thank you to everyone who came out and showed up to make this orientation the good day that it was.
