DECA, an international organization for high schools as well as college students involving finance, marketing, management, and hospitality for leaders and entrepreneurs, hosted its first ever competition. Not only was it a huge hit, it ended in success on January 7th.
Students traveled to Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts. The competition day took place on our two hour delay so the students left around 9:30, with the day lasting for over five hours with lunch provided. On arrival there were introductions and the schools were announced. Accommodating for everyone, they all had their own time to compete with different buildings for the events/teams. The timing was mixed in for the teams as well as individual people competing.
A part of the DECA program, the members either did roleplays or a twenty page paper (presentation) on their chosen field and topic. A team of two, Jaylese and Eliza placed for states in Boston.
Our Highlanders make us proud yet again, we can’t wait to see what Jaylese and Eliza have in store. Go DECA! And go YOU!
