The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is a group of students from the respected Public High Schools of Worcester who come together on the first Thursday of every month to contribute ideas. They work on leadership skills and team projects. The focus this year was on peer mediation. Essentially they are forming a “plan” for official council leaders to take into consideration.
As Mr. Brian Allen’s first full of year of being the Superintendent for the Worcester Public Schools comes to a close, the joy as well as the seriousness put into every thought was recognized at the Farewell Ceremony at the Dr. Helen A. Friel Auditorium in the Durkin Administration Building on May 21st, 2026.
Hearing from Italo Fini, he is a Worcester Technical High School alumnus who has been doing political consulting for different campaigns and people. His and Mr. Superintendent Brian Allen’s speeches were both touching and meaningful.
The Superintendent gave out graduation sashes for the seniors in SSAC, recognizing Doherty’s former student Melina Reyes. Fellow student advisory council members-Ethan Chapman, Taye Finch, Anayah Ortiz, Mackenzie O’Brien, Jeffrey Kwarteng, and Colin Staley-were all celebrated for their dedication to Doherty Memorial High School and their work on the Student Advisory Council as well.

As we close this 2025-2026 Student Advisory year, a chapter is ending but your Doherty advisors will be back next school year with even better input to offer. A special thanks to Mr. Bucciaglia who attended every meeting with our student advisors.
