All westbound lanes of Route 9 in Shrewsbury remain closed Tuesday evening after a large tree fell onto the road and power lines just west of South Street around 2:30 PM. The fallen tree caused power outages and heavy traffic delays during peak commuting hours, according to Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO).

Fire and police crews are on scene, redirecting traffic while emergency crews and SELCO work to remove the tree and restore power. SELCO said in an update around 7:50 PM that service is expected to return between 8:30 and 9:30 PM on Tuesday. No injuries have been reported.
