Playing a sport comes with strength and determination. More importantly, pure strength of character and perseverance in the mind. Doherty hosts athletes new and old across various sports. We are lucky to have found grit in these individuals, awaiting the greatness in their futures to come.
Coming up, an event to showcase these talented athletes is Wednesday, February 11th. The girls basketball team will host its annual Senior Night, varsity playing at 6:30 pm on our court.
The event will kick off honoring Senior Captain Ava Egonu #2, and Senior Masseta Fofana #50. They are two forwards playing Doherty basketball since freshman year. Being strong contributors to the team, Senior Night will send them off into their next chapter of life after high school.
Masseta is known for her infectious laugh, always lighting up the room, and her passion for the sport. Ava contributes her hustle, light-heartedness, and with her you got it mentality. Sorry to see two strong Highlanders leave the basketball team in a few months. Senior Night is a time for remembrance and celebration on what’s to come.
