On Tuesday, December 9th, Doherty hosted our 2025 winter concert for our Jazz Ensemble and Madrigals, the advanced instrumental and choral classes at Doherty. After school at six o’clock, this concert was nothing short of festive in the auditorium.
The lights darkened and it was showtime. Jazz Band took the stage first at six, first performing the iconic Summertime. The upbeat Night Train was second, after the mesmerizing Moondance. A delight from Linus and Lucy, 25 or 6 to 4 closed out their set. With the colored lights, Jazz Band was there to show off, with Mr. Sullivan directing the ensemble.

Shortly following, the Madrigals came out under Mr. Delorey with a good start-up from Wassail! and (the beautiful) Hallelujah including a few soloists for both pieces of music. Senior Soloists Sydney Rajotte, Levi Kasten, and Emma Hartigan performed their holiday favorites entertaining the crowd. Joining once more together, Carol of the Bells was sung with three seniors welcomed onto the stage from last year’s Madrigals to sing for the rest of the performance. Ending off the concert with the Holiday Sing-Along, the Madrigals put on their festive accessories and led the crowd in the final goodbye.
A successful night all around, Highlander pride remains strong. We are lucky to have diverse classes offered to be able to have students have their talent shown in Doherty. See you for the concert in 2026.
