Glamour, music, courage, dancing, and props. What might those all have in common? Well I’ll tell you…Doherty’s famous Talent Show. Students gathered on January 15th, 2025 during the sixth and seventh period for not just a show but what one might call Doherty’s Got Talent.

Tickets were sold all week leading up to the show for three dollars each. Mr. Delorey said they sold five hundred tickets, with even more students showing up. The space was so tightly packed that students stood along the aisles of the theater to watch. The audience never had a dull moment, always cheering with the occasional flash light and clapping along.

Jazz ensemble performed as people were walking in at the start of sixth period, later performing between acts and judging. Sixteen people ended up taking the stage with twelve different performances. Anything from hip hop, strong ballets, electric guitar, to duo dances, and live renditions of classics.

At the end of the day it came down to the judges; Mr. Whalen, Mrs. Atchue, Mr. Creamer, and Mrs. Halfmann. Shouting out John Hickey on saxophone, (a performance that blew the audience away) their voting placed CJ Franklin as first place with a vocal performance of Put Your Head On My Shoulder. Second and third place went to Morgan Menard on guitar and vocals performing Dernière Danse by French singer, Indila, and Zuri Roach on vocals sung My Days by Joy Woods (from the Notebook Musical). All of the performers got a Dunkin Donuts Gift Card, plus an envelope with a prize in it to the winners.

Always a good time at Doherty, spirit and Highlander pride yet again reign on top. Anyone in that auditorium could see the magic filling the room. Talent is here, talent is there, talent is in the air. It’s Doherty’s Got Talent.
